Countesthorpe Walking

Walk 1 - Countesthorpe Road/Foston Road junction to Crow Mill Bridge and Weir
Approx 1 ½ miles - (About ¾ hour)

This walk is along the side of Countesthorpe Road to Crow Mill Bridge, South Wigston. A very straightforward walk and involves only easy pavement walking.

Leave Countesthorpe along Countesthorpe Road passed Foston Lane. As you leave the village, you immediately walk alongside open fields on both sides. After approx ¼ mile, you pass The Meadows Sports Ground on the right. Home of Magna 73 Football, Wigston Girls Football and Wigston Town Cricket. Next you pass the archery club…a sporting paradise on the edge of the village!!!

Carry on straight passed Hospital Lane and down the hill. It's approx ½ mile to Crow Mill Bridge. At this point you will see Crow Mill and the weir on the River Sence. A couple of yards further and Crow Mill Bridge itself runs over the Grand Union canal.

Crow Mill Bridge

On the opposite side of the road is Crow Mill Mile, a man made mile long walk, through tree lined embankment, well worth a look.
