Countesthorpe Walking

Walk 5 - Orkney Way to Foston
Approx 1 miles - (About ½ hour)

This is quite an easy route as it runs in pretty much a straight line to Foston.

Join this walk from Orkney Way (or Shetland Way) by crossing into the open field behind the houses. There is a bridge straight in front to cross the River Sence into another open field, sometimes with sheep grazing.

View back to Countesthorpe from fields on way to Foston

Straight across this field, over the stile and into the next field, usually ploughed or wheat/barley. Continue up the hill, looking back for views of Countesthorpe, left for Wigston and right for open view towards Peatling and Reed Pool spinney.
Continue over the track/lane that leads to Soars Lodge Farm and stables to your right.

Walk straight ahead and you will see the trees ahead that obscure your view of Foston and St Bartholomews Church.

Approach to Foston along Barley Lane

Cross the gate onto the country road (Barley Lane), the church is along the lane to your right.

There is a great website on St Bartholomews at www.foston-church.org.uk

Walk 6 or Walk 4 can follow on from this one.
