Countesthorpe Walking

Walk 8 - Great Peatling Lodge Farm to Peatling Magna
Approx 1 mile - (About ¾ hour)

A lovely continuation of Walk 6 along a quiet country lane…..with the added bonus of a pub at the end (open at weekends and weekday evenings only)!!

From Great Peatling Farm, continue along the lane. The lane changes around here from Barley Lane to Foston Lane, strange!!

Yew Tree FarmhouseThe lane goes uphill slightly and then, as you start to walk downhill, you will see Yew Tree Cottage ahead. Walk along the hedgeline of the lane as it bends round, watch for traffic around the blind corners.

Watch for views through the trees, of All Saints Church in Peatling Magna

After approx ½ mile cross Folly Bridge (not a very nice looking bridge, in fact I missed it first time!!).

The lane starts to climb slightly.View up Foston Lane

View into village of Peatling Magna

As you reach the lane junction with Peatling Lane, turn left to Peatling Magna and onto Main Street. Continue along Main Street and the beautiful village opens up in front of you (you will also see on the right the stile and start of Walk 9).

Take some time to look around the village, the nice houses, All Saints Church, pond and the quaint Cock Inn Public House (good food, drink and hospitality) - I hope to expand the information on Peatling Magna eventually.
