Diary March 2006

| Back to Diary Index |

Welcome

A new feature!! Not sure how this page will go, but thought I'd create some ramblings that give me a chance to bring to your attention things that maybe of interest to at least 1 of you!! Some will be on this website and some will be introducing you to other great sites.....some may just be ramblings!

I understand this website may have featured in a computer magazine recently, if you have a copy of the article I'd love to see it as it appears to have passed me by. Email me if you can help

Thanks to you all for visiting this site over the last month, it seems to be useful to many of you and your kind words have given good suggestions for improving the site too. The main one seems to be more pictures. I can do new pictures, but being of only 3 years in the village, I need your help if anyone has old photos they would be happy for me to scan and publish? Drop me an email if you can help.

Already in the first month, visitors have come from as far afield as New Zealand, China and even Chile(?). Welcome to you all. If you'd like to let me know where you are from, why not plot your name on my Friends of Countesthorpe Map

Due to an over active spammer, I've decided to approve all entries on the Guestbook before they show, so bear with me if your message is delayed.

Great new Parish Council website

Are you interested in what goes on in your village or want to help improve it in some way? Countesthorpe Parish Council launched its new website on February 14th www.countesthorpeparishcouncil.co.uk

They publish their minutes online so you can see what the issues of the day are, not sure I follow why if 66% of locals want the toilets on Central Street to remain closed and a superloo would not be self financing, a decision is made to build a superloo, but hey....you can only change things if you get involved.

Looking for.....

A couple of people seem to be trying to contact old friends.

Wendy Burgess - "I'm looking for Holly Yanez (nee Hollingworth) who I believe may be living in Countesthorpe. Lost contact with her approx two years ago."

Sue Hare is researching her family who may well have history in the village. Any leads welcomed.

Bits you might have missed

Talk Shop - Well, a chat room really! Hoping you might be able this to contact old friends, geneaology, debate local issues or just chat, up to you? I've put it up for a trial period to see what happen

Fancy a walk - I enjoyed compiling this part, I hadn't realised how many footpaths there were and I know I've missed a few. A variety of walking terrain and something for everyone. If you fancy walking further afield (ahem) there are links to a superb selecton of maps and routes on the County Council website.

Keep up with the news - Sometimes you just can't get to a newspaper, so a little compilation of news on this page. The Herald seems to be not available at present, but I'll put it back on when it is.

Thats about it for this month, if you've something you'd like me to include next month, drop me a note
