A great big well done to the local lads for a fantastic homecoming couple of gigs. I was lucky enough to attend the Tuesday evening gig. The Fratellis started proceedings with a fantastic set.
Kasabian has possibly my favourite rock entry ever, first a bit of T Rex playing in the background (couple of those Bolan riffs have been nick haven't they Serge??), then Henry playing the Post Horn Gallop. A wonderful tribute to the man who played it when Leicester City come out for a match!!
I was also impressed to hear from a friend that she had met her old school music teacher from the college, who had been invited along by the band. Well done guys, having seen you socialising in the village and town, I know you are still proud of your roots....and it showed on stage too!! I particularly enjoyed my pogo to Shoot the runner, LSF and Clubfoot
I've not put much on the website about the workhouse and I came across this fascinating website from Peter Higginbotham www.workhouses.org.uk. Of particular interest to some maybe the page on Countesthorpe Workhouse and Cottage Homes . You need to scroll down the page a little bit, but for anyone who would like to know why the workhouses exist, it is well worth a read.
I'm afraid I won't be around much now until the New Year, due to holidaying in China and Australia over Christmas. Taking in a bit of The Ashes on Boxing Day...assume we'll still be in it???
Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year
