Countesthorpe is a thriving village, mainly residential, but with a number of successful small businesses too. Our location is on the edge of the countryside and yet close to the town of Leicester - best of both worlds!!
Situated in Leicestershire, approximately 7 miles south of the city of Leicester. It is a mixture of old and new buildings and was quite infamous in the seventies when Countesthorpe College was set up as a revolutionary new way of performing education. The college was somewhat frowned upon at the time, but has become one of the best schools in the county.

The village is blessed with good amenities and boast 4 very good pubs (everything from fine food and drink to Karaoke and live music). It has fine takeaway food outlets (magnificent chip shop, chinese and indian), post office, greengrocers, butcher, bakers (I've not found a candlestick maker!!), newsagents and local store. It even has 3 hairdressers.
If thats not enough, the sports clubs range through cricket, football, bowls and many more.
This is my attempt to introduce you all to our little part of the world....The Cock Inn in Peatling will probably get mentioned, not quite Countesthorpe, but our wonderfully close retreat (a mere 2 miles) and very welcoming food and hostelry...not sure I should tell you about it, you may all turn up!!
Countesthorpe is twinned with Mennecy, which is just to the south of Paris. Their website is great, you just need to learn Francais first!! http://www.mennecy.fr
I moved to the village a few years ago and have lived in around Leicester all my life....but where in the world are you viewing from?
Why not put a little link on this world map so we can see where all ex-thorpies, niffy's or friends are viewing this website from.
NOTE: I've tried to be as accurate as possible, but if you feel I misrepresent anything or have any wonderful information for me to use, please email me.
