Walking around our village is nice enough, but sometimes you want a touch of country air! As the village is on the south side of Leicester, it's not long before you hit open countryside….in fact about 400 yards from my house!!!

It depends what sort of walking you like, but here is a mix of ideas. These walks include along quiet(ish) country lanes to nice pubs to cross field plodding along not well signposted routes (often dependent on whether fields are ploughed/growing or clear!!)!! Something for everyone

Many of these walks, you could do in bits, so I've split them into numbered bits you can pin together.

* - You're real keen to explore and are never disappointed (rough!)
** - Not too bad - Maybe tricky walking or a bit bland
*** - Interesting, tranquil or both
**** - Nice one!!

I recommend walking boots and jeans for all the off road routes (most fields change year on year, season on season!!)

You don't really need a map. All paths are mark with either the standard Yellow Markers or Footpath Signs (sometimes need a quick search of the horizon to see!!). If you do want a map, try A Z Maps. The "Leicester" map has most paths in our area marked (I'm not on commission, it's just a clear map!!). Alternatively, Ordnance Survey

DON'T FORGET - The rules of the Countryside Code

Recommended nice walks:

Walk A - Add 5,6 and 7
Walk B - Add 7, 8 and 9 (weekend & take in Cock Inn Peatling Magna for lunch-book!!!)
Walk C - Just 2 , Park at Crow Mill Bridge and walk to Navigation at Kilby Bridge and come back!

Or, try any combination that takes your fancy!!!

These are just, ideas...experiment!!! Alternatively, Leicestershire Council website has some great stuff on it.
